At the start of winter 2025-2026, my friend Drew Hamilton invited me to spend a month with him in Churchill, Canada - the polar bear and aurora capital of the world. As temps dipped down to -40c, we waved goodbye to bear after bear as they headed back to sea, crossing the sea ice to navigate into open (frozen) waters to fatten up for the winter.
